Hi there! I'm Lauren, occupational therapist and owner of OT2U Ltd. I started OT2U Ltd. because of my passion for occupational therapy and wanting to make it more visible and accessible to the community at large. My experiences as an occupational therapist have shown me how resilient individuals are in the face of challenges, whether these be physical, cognitive or mental health based. I love that occupational therapists don't separate these domains, but consider how each impacts the other and always prioritizes what is meaningful to the client in helping them to achieve their goals.
Occupational therapy is incredibly diverse, but a few areas I am especially passionate about are:
-
Providing Exposure Therapy
-
Assisting Seniors to Age-In-Place
In addition to the Master's of Science in Occupational Therapy I acquired from the University of Alberta in 2016, I have certifications from the following continuing education courses:
-
Intensive Workshop in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (University of Pensylvania)
-
Fundamentals of Anxiety Interventions: Relaxation Skills Training and Exposure Therapy (CAOT)
-
Home is Where the Heart Is: Creating Opportunities for Aging In Place (CAOT)
-
Smart but Scattered Adults: How to Work with Clients to Strengthen Executive Skills (SAOT)
-
Best Practice in Pain Management for Occupational Therapists (Pain BC)
Outside of occupational therapy, I love to travel, have been to over 35 countries, can string a few sentences together in French and Spanish, love spending time with my friends and family, and heading out for hikes and drives in the mountains whenever I can.
